Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 September 2026

1. About Sekelbos

Sekelbos is a web-based competition scoring and results platform operated by Ewoudt van der Linde, trading as Sekelbos, in South Africa.

These Terms of Use govern use of the Sekelbos website, organiser and scoring functionality, and public results services available at https://sekelbos.live.

Creating or using an organiser or scorer account constitutes acceptance of these Terms where they apply to that use.

2. What Sekelbos does

Sekelbos enables authorised competition organisers to:

  • import and manage competition information;
  • manage athletes, categories, groups and sessions;
  • record and manage scores;
  • provide live scoring;
  • produce competition documents and reports; and
  • publish public competition results.

Sekelbos complements existing gymnastics and federation competition systems. It does not replace federation athlete-registration or competition-governance systems.

Competition organisers remain responsible for running their competitions and for the information they provide to Sekelbos.

3. Accounts

Users must provide accurate account information and keep it reasonably up to date.

Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and for activity carried out through their accounts.

Suspected unauthorised account use should be reported promptly to contact@sekelbos.live.

Sekelbos may approve, decline, suspend or withdraw access where reasonably necessary for platform administration, security or misuse prevention.

4. Organisers and athlete information

Competition organisers control the athlete and competition information they provide to Sekelbos.

Organisers must have appropriate authority or other lawful basis to provide that information. This is particularly important for information relating to children.

Organisers are responsible for ensuring appropriate permissions, consents or other lawful authority relating to participation, competition administration and the intended publication of competition results.

5. Public results

Where an organiser publishes results, public information may include athlete first and last name, club, district or region, category or level, group where applicable, apparatus, scores, rankings, and competition or result status.

The organiser determines when competition results are published.

Public result links may be distributed through QR codes, social media, messaging services, websites, printed materials or other channels.

Once information is publicly available, third parties may copy, screenshot or redistribute it outside Sekelbos’s control.

6. Result accuracy

Competition organisers and authorised scorers are responsible for the competition entries and scoring information they enter.

Sekelbos provides the technical platform used to record and display that information.

Competition or result errors should ordinarily be corrected through the relevant competition organiser.

7. Acceptable use

Users must not:

  • use Sekelbos unlawfully;
  • attempt unauthorised access;
  • interfere with platform operation;
  • introduce malicious software;
  • deliberately submit fraudulent information;
  • improperly extract private information;
  • scrape or reproduce protected or private information without authority; or
  • infringe the rights of others.

8. Service availability

Sekelbos aims to provide reliable competition-day operation but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Availability can be affected by internet connectivity, devices, browsers, third-party infrastructure, maintenance, software faults, and circumstances outside Sekelbos’s reasonable control.

Organisers remain responsible for appropriate competition contingency arrangements.

9. Data and backups

Sekelbos takes reasonable measures to protect and maintain platform information. No online system can provide an absolute guarantee against loss or interruption.

Organisers should retain appropriate source records and important competition information.

Personal information is handled according to the Privacy Policy.

10. Intellectual property

Sekelbos retains rights in its software, branding, interface and original platform content.

Organisers retain applicable rights in information and content they provide.

Providing competition information gives Sekelbos only the rights reasonably necessary to process, store, display and, when instructed by the organiser, publish that information in operating the service.

11. Third-party services

Sekelbos relies on third-party infrastructure and services required to operate the platform. Their availability and processing may be subject to their own terms and policies.

12. Suspension and termination

Access may be suspended or terminated where reasonably necessary because of misuse, security concerns, legal obligations or platform administration.

13. Disclaimer and liability

Sekelbos is provided on an “as available” basis.

Sekelbos does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sekelbos is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable South African law.

14. Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with the Sekelbos Privacy Policy and applicable South African privacy law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

15. Changes

Sekelbos may update these Terms where reasonably required. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and its last-updated date.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be sent to contact@sekelbos.live.
