1. Operator

Sekelbos is operated by Ewoudt van der Linde, trading as Sekelbos, in South Africa.

2. Information Sekelbos may process

Not every field below is collected for every person. What is processed depends on how the platform is used and what competition organisers provide.

Account information may include:

  • name;
  • email address; and
  • account and access information.

Competition and athlete information may include:

  • first name and last name;
  • discipline;
  • category or level;
  • group;
  • club;
  • district and region;
  • province where supplied;
  • federation or GSA number where supplied;
  • competition number;
  • apparatus entries and status;
  • scores and results;
  • date of birth where supplied; and
  • race where supplied.

3. Children

Many gymnastics participants are children. Competition organisers are responsible for having appropriate lawful authority to provide children’s competition information to Sekelbos and for the intended publication of competition results.

Sekelbos processes children’s information only for legitimate competition and platform purposes.

Scanning a QR code or viewing public results does not, by itself, constitute parental consent.

4. Race

Race is an optional private field where supplied. It is used only as a South African statistical or administrative field.

Race is never:

  • published in public results;
  • used for scoring;
  • used for ranking; or
  • used for performance evaluation.

Race constitutes special personal information under POPIA and is handled accordingly.

5. Date of birth

Date of birth may be supplied for age or category administration. It remains private and is not part of public results.

6. Purposes of processing

Sekelbos processes personal information to:

  • create and manage accounts and authentication;
  • support competition administration;
  • enable athlete import and management;
  • manage categories, groups and sessions;
  • support scoring and results;
  • produce competition documents and reports;
  • publish results when instructed by the organiser;
  • provide support;
  • send transactional communications;
  • maintain security;
  • diagnose errors or misuse; and
  • meet recordkeeping, legal and compliance purposes.

Sekelbos does not currently use athlete information for behavioural advertising and does not sell athlete databases.

7. Public results

When an organiser publishes results, a deliberate public subset of competition information becomes available. Private competition information is not exposed directly to spectators.

Public results may include:

  • first and last name;
  • club;
  • district or region;
  • category or level;
  • group where applicable;
  • apparatus;
  • scores;
  • rankings; and
  • relevant competition or result status.

The following are not public:

  • date of birth;
  • race;
  • GSA or federation number;
  • province;
  • competition number; and
  • account email addresses.

Historical competition results may remain publicly available as part of the sporting record unless unpublished, removed or corrected for appropriate operational, privacy or legal reasons.

8. QR codes and social sharing

Public result links may be accessed or shared through QR codes, social media, messaging services and other websites. Those third-party platforms have their own privacy practices.

Removing or unpublishing information at the Sekelbos source cannot guarantee deletion of copies or screenshots independently created or shared by third parties.

9. Browser storage

Sekelbos may use browser storage for:

  • authentication and session operation;
  • interface preferences;
  • locally stored Follow selections; and
  • temporary workflow state.

Sekelbos does not intentionally use app-authored behavioural advertising or tracking cookies, and does not currently initialise analytics on the website.

10. Service providers and sharing

Sekelbos may use service providers required to operate the platform, including:

  • Google / Firebase infrastructure;
  • Resend for transactional email; and
  • ImprovMX for contact email forwarding.

Personal information may also be accessible to authorised competition organisers and scorers according to their roles. Lawful disclosure may occur where required.

Sekelbos does not sell athlete databases.

11. International and cross-border processing

Some service providers and infrastructure used by Sekelbos may process or store information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, Sekelbos relies on appropriate arrangements and applicable legal requirements for cross-border processing under POPIA.

12. Security

Sekelbos uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. Access is role-restricted, and private competition information is separated from deliberately published public results.

No online system can guarantee absolute security. Security incidents involving personal information will be handled according to applicable legal obligations.

13. Retention

Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for competition operation, sporting records, platform administration, legal and compliance requirements, and other legitimate operational purposes.

Historical published results may remain available longer as sporting records.

14. Access, correction and deletion

Privacy requests may be sent to contact@sekelbos.live.

Identity may need to be verified. Where information originates from a competition organiser, Sekelbos may need to coordinate with that organiser.

Score and result disputes should ordinarily be directed to the relevant competition organiser.

15. Unpublishing and deletion

Organisers can control publication according to platform functionality. Removing information from Sekelbos cannot remove independent third-party copies or screenshots.

Deletion may be subject to technical, security, recordkeeping or legal constraints where applicable.

16. Policy changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and its last-updated date.

17. Information Regulator

You may contact the South African Information Regulator regarding applicable privacy rights or complaints under POPIA.
